Cumberland River

I have waited all summer for a shot like this.

Finally, on the last time down for the season, I got what I was looking for.

I imagine the beauty of Fall with this shot would be that much more spectacular.

Extraordinary

Beautiful sunsets are not a rarity where I camp, they are a specialty and frequently extraordinary.

I Have Been Mocked.

I am with my family on vacation.  I have my husband and kids, my parents, my sister and her family, my brother and his wife, and cousins and an uncle.  It's a great vacation.  It's terrific being with them.  But they are mocking me.  Seriously.  Because I have done such a lousy job keeping up with my blog, they are making fun of me.  So this is for you Don and Margaret.

These are ten and very-close-to-ten year old cousins.  It's my nephew and my daughter.  They are best of friends.  Aren't they sweet?  No, really, aren't they?

Dear Family,  Are you Satisfied?  Love, Me :)

Hamming it Up!

This is my nephew, B, hamming it up at one of my very favorite places in the whole world.  I took this last week while we were on our camping trip.

Back from Vacation

I was gone for the week.  Gone. Unplugged.  Off the grid.

Last weekend it was my family.  Then Monday, J had to return to work and I picked up my FAVORITE sister (and only) and her family and we stayed the rest of the week.  These weeks are so relaxing because we take the week to just "be".  There is poor (or no) cell service, no internet, and no tv.  There is also lots of water, sunshine, books to read, and Legos.

I had to do a job this trip though that I had completely committed to never ever doing.  We have a trailer and there are jobs the trailer requires that I have intentionally not learned.  This time I had to learn how to empty the trailer's black water tank (toilet tank) because there was no husband to do this. Remember, he went home.  It is his job.  It is still his job.  (Did I mention while I did "the job", my sister stood back, laughed at me and took pictures?  But she also was my cheerleader when I was g.r.i.p.i.n.g.  It made me feel much better to gripe while I did it.)

Most of the time was spent in the water.
There is not much in life that is more refreshing than that!!

My almost, in 6 or 5 days (if you count my way), 13-year-old (on the right) and cousin B.  Where would we be without cousins?

Besties!  My A on the left and her cousin R on the right.

The purpose of the trip was to take this one to be a camp counselor near by.  He will be an awesome camp counselor!  But I'm biased.

Did I mention poor cell service?  To get to talk on the phone you have to cock your head JUST RIGHT, and stand on a picnic table at the top of the hill.  If you move you might just lose your call.
This is my sister Margaret demonstrating.

Camping

We went camping last weekend.  We wanted to go the weekend before, of course.  The weekend before was absolutely beautiful.  This weekend, not so much.  We went with some friends, had a lot of laughter and that drowned out the rain.

This is the campground.

These are the little ponds on our campsite after it rained ALL night long.

Saturday night, we sat under our friends' awning and talked thinking the rain would stop.  This puddle was where we were sitting.  J's feet were in about 2-3 inches of water.

This is the lake where the campground is located.
